In my xmldialog entry, I have it give the player a quest with:

nextrepeatable/88

and it will actually give the player an attachment that will expire in 88 days. Shouldn't this be in hours? When I tried changing it to this:

nextrepeatable/88:00

it would not give the player an attachment at all.

The same behavior occurs when using this in a spawner entry:

SETONTRIGMOB/ATTACH/<XmlData, AttachmentName/expiration/88

Note that when assigning the questholder properties:

expiration/3

will set the expiration of the quest to 3 hours (as it should).

that is because the expiration property on questholders is a double type argument that takes values in hours, while the NextRepeatable and Expiration properties on attachments are TimeSpan types and have to be formatted like a timespan value.

d.hh:mm:ss

so 88 hours is 3 days 16 hours

or 3.16

also

3.16:00

or

3.16:00:00

should work

There is no good reason for the inconsistency in the types of those variables.
