While my shard is running, I'd like to use the spawn editor on a laptop and remotely work on things. I'm wirelessly connected and have my RunUO directory mapped as a drive.

When I start the editor, I receive an error that the program couldn't obtain the necessary minimum permissions. It sounds like the .NET security config, but I've checked that and it looks in order. (Granted, just because I have the machines on the same IP block doesn't mean they're in the "intranet".)

(I'm not currently at home so I can't post a screenshot at the moment...)

The strange part: The program will still run after I click okay in the message window however. I can even fire up the transfer server.

I've checked all my .dll's with the dep walker and its good.

I feel like I'm missing something very simple. Argh.

Any help would greatly be appreciated!

sounds perhaps like file system access restriction to RunUO.exe and/or Scripts.CS.dll. The editor reads those to get type information on spawnable objects available on the server.
If you go to the Spawn Types window you should see all of the available spawns (select the Details box, then select the Spawn Types tab). If you dont see anything then it is blocking access to those files.

I looked at some of the permissions and found that the directory was marked as read-only. I've reset this and double-checked my share to ensure that "users can change files". (Oh how I loathe the dumbing down of permissions...)

When I get the laptop home I'll give it a try tonight and post the results.
Thanks, ArteGordon!

Apparently the error is still occurring. Interestingly though its definitely related to sharing security; I can start the editor locally without any problems.

Here's the error:

I've changed directory permissions, even re-established the share and specified that users may change data. Hasn't yet worked though.

Any suggestions?

you might try making a copy of the server executable and pointing the editor to that instead of the running version.
