I am experiencing some problems with respawns of my wilderness spawns.

I get the feeling my spawners do larger respawns sporadically. I can walk in the wilderness, and suddenly alot of critters/monsters spawn around me on screen. This happens even though i have not killed any creatures to be respawned. And for some odd reason i get the feeling those spawns happen mostly around players.

It's very hard to describe this phenomenon.

Ex. I was just running around on haven, which is mostly spawned with animals, and the other standard OSI spawns. But for some reason, Horde Minions kept spawning around me, no matter where i ran inside the spawn zone. They spawned in groups of 2-4 at a time. This does not only happen with the Horde Minions, but with animal spawns etc.

It's a funny feeling, walking in a region i know is fully spawned ( max of the spawner), and suddenly see a respawn of several creatures, with names and all poping up at the same time. This despite i know none have been killed.

This happens too often to be an oddity. It can hapen several times in 5 minutes while running around in the wilderness.

The spawners are all set to standard props, generated by Spawn Editor 2. Only things i changed are creatures, range, min and max time.

can you post the actual XML for the spawners that do this?

Also, which version are you using?

you wouldnt happen to have something like Courageous' Random Encounter
System installed by any chance?

No, i dont even know that system.

I will zip the spawn files i use for haven and post a link for you.

Here is the link for the spawn files i use for haven. Note, there are many spawners in those files. But, it's not just the Haven spawners i have the problem with, happens all over the world. But i guess this is the best option to start with the Haven ones since i guess you dont want all of them, quite many wink.gif

Oh, btw.

Im not 100% sure of this one. But i have gotten an impression this phenomenon increase over time. So if i do a complete respawn of the server it seemed ok for awhile, but then came back.

But as i said, im not sure this is the case. Just could be that i was not payint attention after the respawn.

Just made another observation that confirms my suspission.

On haven, the boat that lies in the canal South of town, near the lizzard camp, the one you can use as a bridge. I spawn Corpsers there, and they confirm this respawn thing. Often when i pass by them, they are plased differently, just as if they had been respawned.

I could almost suspect i had Smart Spawning on, and the spawner despawn them when im not close by, and then respawn them again when i get close.

But then, monsters would not spawn around me, should they. Dont Smart Spawn spawn on a distance before getting there?

But it's not that. I checked, and Smart Spawning is set to false, as it should be on all spawners.

I see that you have militia fighters being spawned. They would automatically kill creatures like minions causing them to be respawned. That might be what you are seeing.
Try disabling those militia spawners.

how frequently would you guess this repositioning occurs?

There is a built-in mechanism for automatic respawning that is designed to reposition spawns that have been idle for a long time (default is 72 hours).
Any spawn that has not been killed in 72 hours (set by the SpawnIdleTime constant in xmlspawner2.cs) will be respawned under the assumption that it may be in an inaccessible location that wont allow it to be killed by players.

But that respawning only occurs when players are not around. It might explain the corpsers though if they had been idle for more than that time.

are you walking around as staff and seeing this? I've loaded your spawns, forced a full respawn, and am wandering around now. Havent seen anything funny yet.

I am walking around as a player. But i have also noticed it as an Admin.

Yes, i have militia fighters spawned, but that is only on the spawner in the mountain pass. None of the other spawners have these fighters, but still respawn frequently.

Currently, i notice these "respawns" at least once per 5-10 minutes, from the same spawn area "Same spawner".

The corpsers have changed position twice in a 30 minute period now.

I might add that this server have now been running for 4-5 days without a restart. Will do a restart of the server and see if this still occurs. If so i could pack the shard and let you download it, to see if it happens to you as well.

been checking the corpser spawner by the boat. Havent seen anything.

Is there a particular spawner that I can check out that you think would show this more readily that others?

I am using last beta before 3.15.

Will update to 3.15 and see if that makes any difference
