I read about this on Runuo.Com and Orbsydia. Orbsydia had a good post about it but that site is down temporarily.

My new 2.0 server seems to pause occasionally. Part of it probably is the fact I'm running it on the same machine I am testing it on but overall, things seem laggy and that annoying persistent "pause".

Someone had said something about the sleep() function in one of the core scripts. I Was wondering if anyone had ideas about this, had looked at it, fixed it, whatever.

Interestingly, 2.0 seems laggier than 1.0 ever was, even on this same machine.
I can run 1.0 and it seems a lot smoother. On 2.0, riding a horse is choppy. I know that .net 2.0 has more overhead, that may be part or most of it.

thanks!

the rev 64 server changed that so that the server doesnt eat up as much cpu, but you are right that it does seem to run slower in general.

Since it supposedly will run on 64 bit systems, I'm interested to see the performance. WinXP64 is available as a trial from Microsoft, I need to see if my system will support it.

I'd be interested to hear if anyone is running Win64 of any flavor and Runuo2.0. If I'm able to support it on my machine, I'll let y'all know.

I said I would post after I got my new server.

For some comparison:
My present server is on a Athalon 1700 1 gig ram Win 2000. With average 30 players on, theCPU runs about 4 - 6%.
RunUO 2.0 was tested on a P4 2.4 1 gig ram Win 2000. With only 4 staff on, it runs 40 - 60% CPU.
The new server is Dual Core 3800 AMD 64 2 gig ram Win XP Pro 64. With 4 staff, it runs 1 - 2 % CPU and 660 meg Ram.
Saves are near 10 times faster. From 18 seconds to 1.8 seconds.

I copied the entire directory for RunUO 2.0 from the P4 to the new machines. So it is running the core compiled on a Win 2000 .Net 2.
When I boot up it does say Optimizing for 2 64-bit processors. Save say dual save mode.

I did compile the core using Framework64 which came with Win XP Pro 64. Compiled in less than 3 seconds.
When I booted the system with new server.exe, I got a quick error after loading 4 items line 22 in RemoteAdmin\Network.cs a null reference.

So, even if things are running good, am I wasting some of the performance I bought by not beinga able to compile and run with the Framwork64? I am pleased with the speed so far. But is there more to be had from my system?
