Two part quest to rescue Harmon's son
Part 1:
This is an extended version of the simple demonstration quest included in xmlextras named Harmon's quest.
The quest begins in Britain in Trammel near the Sweet Dreams Inn where Harmon can be heard lamenting some problem.
If you talk to Harmon and ask him to repeat was he was saying, he will offer you a quest to find his son.
If you accept you will be directed to search the depths of Hythloth for him.
When you stumble across the room where his son was being held, a balron named Oberon the Wicked will be spawned. You must kill him and retrieve the note that he carries. This note is from Harmon's son Emile, and suggests that he has perished at the hands of Oberon.
Return the note to Harmon to complete the first part of the quest and receive a small reward in the form of compassion points.
Part 2:
The resolution of the first part of the quest will suggest that perhaps Emile is not dead and that there is something more to be found in Hythloth.
Returning to Hythloth and continuing the search in another part of the dungeon will reveal some scribbling on a wall. Near this location is a switch that when activated will reveal an invisible chest which contains a note indicating that Emile has been taken somewhere. The first part of the quest must have been recently completed (within the past 24 hours) in order for the note to be found and the quest continued. The clue "they spoke of the winds of chaos" will be given.
With this note in hand, searching near the Chaos shrine near Wind will reveal a second note that indicates that Emile has been handed over to dark mages and sent through a gate with the clue "They speak of Blood and a faraway land".
Searching the Blood dungeon in Ilshenar will trigger the spawn of an evil mage that will utter the words "Ahm Lehm Mok". If the player kills the mage he will find Emile's necklace. If he approaches the nearby altar and repeats the mages words, a moongate will be opened leading to the isolated virtue room in Ilshenar. This gate will only remain open for five minutes.
When the player passes through the moongate to the virtue room he will have to kill a series of 6 ancient liches that will appear successively in each virtue alcove.
He must be carrying the second of Emile's notes at this point.
The player gets 20 minutes per creature or the sequence will be reset.
After each kill, the player must return to the center of the virtue room. Hiding in the alcoves after kills will not allow the sequence to advance.
A teleporter back to the entrance to Blood is provided at the end of the room to be used if the player is killed and needs to leave. They can return by going back to the altar and opening the moongate with the secret words.
After killing the final lich, Emile will appear in the Compassion virtue alcove. When the player approaches him, he will be given the quest to escort him back to Britain.
Successfully escorting him will automatically complete the second half of the quest. The notes will be removed, and the player will be given Emile's magic ring which has 3-7 bonus hits, 1-2 regenhits, and 20-70 luck. Of course, the reward can be modified as desired.
The second half of the quest (Emile's rescue) can be repeated once every 14 days.
The first half (Harmon's quest) can be repeated once a day.
Installation:
Place the harmonextended.xml file in the Spawns folder.
Place the harmon.npc file in the XmlQuestNPC folder.
Load the quest with
[xmlload harmonextended.xml
this can serve as my entry in the quest contest, since I think that it has all of the required elements.
(edit)
although might violate the Tram requirement because some of the quest is in Ilsh, and also their is a spawn that appears inside of a container, but the spawner itself is outside of the container (so that it can be triggered by the player).
hm ok. says harmonextended.xml does not exist
placed in the folders you said to do..
the file harmonextended.xml should be in the Spawns folder which should be located in the main RunUO directory.
The harmon.npc file should be in the XmlQuestNPC folder which should also be located in the main RunUO directory.
If you extract the entire harmonextended.zip file into the main RunUO directory with the subdirectories intact, it will put them in the right folders automatically.
Ahhh hehe okies.. ty doll!!

Well, being that this would be the only entry...I'll allow it...Arte wins

Big surprise.

very cool quest BTW.
Question: How do you get Harmons Quest and Harmons extended to work together? I loaded them both and did Harmons quest and when I finished the first part he tried to get me to do part 1 again. Harmons extended was spawned and I did it by reading your post but the orginal never indicated there was another part.
Also how do you get Harmons2 to work. Loaded it and spawned it but can't get Harmon to give me the quest?
Thanks
GREAT QUEST if I can get them to work together.

Harmon never gives you the second part. He thinks that his son is dead and sadly continues to believe that after receiving the note that you find. You just have to take the initiative and continue to search to get into the second part.
Technically, it is Emile himself that gives you the second part of the quest, which is simply to escort him back home. You just have to do a lot of stuff to find him first in order to get the quest.
I like the more heroic idea of taking on a personal quest not because you are asked, but simply because you believe in something, but you could easily modify the dialog at the end of the first part to have Harmon ask the player to search for his son.
Thanks for the reply,
I couldn't agree with you more. But if I wanted to change it where would I do that and how? (fairly new to this)
Is Harmons2 a different quest or the same?
Thanks

it is basically the same as the second part.
If you edit the message on the 'Harmon2 Quest #3' spawner and change this
SETONSPAWN,Harmon2 Quest #1,1/MSG/*sob* oh no... it cant be..
to something like
SETONSPAWN,Harmon2 Quest #1,1/MSG/*sob* oh no... it cant be.. You must go back and find him. I know he is still alive somewhere.
